May 28 – 31
Memorial Day Weekend
Over the last 11 years, the Grace Race has quickly become one of Akron’s most popular and impactful community events. The goal of this event put on by Grace Church, along with the help of friends and businesses in our community, is to raise money and awareness to help feed children around the world through a partner organization called Feed My Starving Children.
This year, the Grace Race will consist of two parts. We will kick things off on May 1st with a 30-day challenge that will help you train and reach your running or fitness goals. Then on Memorial Day weekend, the Grace Race Anyplace event will take place in hundreds of locations all over Akron, OH and across the country. We are encouraging all participants to run/walk anytime and anyplace you would like between Friday, May 28 – Monday, May 31. There will be an official Grace Race Anyplace LIVE broadcast on Monday, May 31 from 9-9:15am for a celebration you won’t want to miss!
So join with us and invite everyone you know to run or walk and help feed children with every step!
3 EASY STEPS TO BE A PART OF GRACE RACE ANYPLACE
STEP 1 – Sign Up
We encourage everyone to participate in part 1 (30-day TRAIN) AND part 2 (1-weekend RACE) to help feed as many starving kids as possible!
So make sure to TRAIN ANYPLACE and then sign up to RACE ANYPLACE. There are six different options to choose from (1 Mile, 2 Mile, 5K, 10K, 10 Miles, Individual Fitness Event).
STEP 2 – INVITE OTHERS
Don’t do it alone! Invite others to join you during the 30-day training as well as race weekend and share the Grace Race Anyplace experience together!
This year, we would also love to see people participate in all 50 states. So if you have family or friends who live anyplace else, make sure to invite them to participate too, because the great thing about Grace Race Anyplace is that it can happen anyplace.
STEP 3 – SHARE THE EXPERIENCE
Go on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and post a picture as you TRAIN ANYPLACE or RACE ANYPLACE all throughout the month of May. Use the hashtag #graceraceanyplace or #gracerace50states.
Post a picture, your course, your distance, your results, or your story to help inspire others to “feed children with every step”.
PART 1 – TRAIN ANYPLACE
MAY 1 – MAY 30
The Grace Race Anyplace “30-day challenge” is a unique opportunity to create a personal 30-day training program that will help you achieve your running or fitness goals while feeding children every step along the way! There are several 30-day training programs to choose from or you can create your own customized program. Keep in mind that you don’t have to be active every day to participate in the 30-day challenge. The main goal is to help feed starving children! We encourage everyone involved in the 30-day challenge to use this month of “training” as an opportunity to promote, inspire and challenge others to join you in “feeding children with every step”. Here’s how it works:
- Select one of the 10 featured 30-day training challenges or create your own.
- Make a donation of any amount.
- Use #graceraceanyplace throughout May to post results, log activity, show pictures, challenge others and more!

PART 2 – RACE ANYPLACE
MAY 28 – MAY 31
(MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND)
The Grace Race Anyplace “racing event” will take place in hundreds of locations all over Akron, OH and across the country throughout the entire Memorial Day Weekend. We are encouraging all participants to run/walk anytime and anyplace you would like between Friday, May 28 – Monday, May 31. There will be an official Grace Race Anyplace LIVE broadcast on Monday, May 31 from 9-9:15am for a celebration you won’t want to miss!
There are 5 official racing events to choose from (1-mile, 2-mile, 5k, 10k, 10-mile). Because the event takes place over a 4-day weekend (Friday-Monday), you may choose to enter more than 1 race as long as you run each race during the Memorial weekend. The cost is $20 per race (includes 1 shirt even if you sign up for more than 1 race). Every time you enter a race you will have the ability to submit your race results. We will have an unofficial leaderboard (with age/gender categories) for each of the 5 races on graceraceanyplace.org as well as on social media. No medals will be given… only bragging rights .
Consider sharing your course/distance/location on social media using #graceraceanyplace so that we can celebrate all the different places the Grace Race is being held throughout the weekend. Please feel free to invite friends, family or associates to join you by letting them know when, where, how far and how fast you plan on running/walking the Grace Race Anyplace.
